Blancco Drive Eraser Trial

If you’re looking to recycle or sell your computer and would like to wipe your hard drive before doing so, Blancco Drive Eraser is a great option.

Last year I was looking to sell my laptop. I was open to paying or using free software. But, there are so many options, it took me a while to make a solid choice.

As with any software, you hope it will do all that it says.

After looking over Blancco’s website, I found that there are many benefits when using the Blancco Drive eraser software. It will erase data from not one but, multiple hard drives. And you get a digitally signed certificate as proof that the data on your hard drive was erased.

They even provide you with an encrypted report. I only had one hard drive I needed wiping, so I decided to give them a try.

Once I provided my information for the Free Trial. I received an email soon after with instructions on how to setup the Drive Eraser.

If you decide to try Blancco Drive Eraser, you’ll need at least 1 GB of storage on a flash drive and an internet connection to get started.

The process was easy, but my hard drive took a while to get wiped. I had a lot to erase but the time varies depending on how much is on your hard drive.

Since it was my first time doing this, I didn’t realize my entire operating system would get wiped as well. Now, all I needed was a copy of Windows to make my computer bootable again.

Lucky for me, I was able to use a friend's laptop to Create My Own Bootable Windows 10 Flash Drive. Check it out below.

Create Your Own Bootable Windows 10 Flash Drive

Getting a portable copy of windows has never been easier than it is today, especially when using a flash drive. Flash drives are sturdier and they have a ton of space. In this post, I will show you how to create your own bootable windows 10 flash drive.

Start by opening your browser and typing in download windows 10 on Microsoft. Below I've highlighted the link we want to use.

After you click on the link you should see the page below.

Go ahead and click on download tool now. When the media creation box pops up, click save and wait for it to download. Once the download is finished, go to your downloads and run the media creation tool.

At this point you will see the license terms, go ahead and click accept. Windows will show a message saying: Getting Things Ready. Make sure you have enough space on your computer in order to move to the next step.

When you get to the next step, you'll need at least 8GB of space on a blank flash drive. If the flash drive is not blank, everything will be deleted on it to make room for the download.

When the setup completes, choose create installation media and next.

Your language, architecture, and edition should already be prefilled in the appropriate boxes. But if you're not sure whether you need the 32-bit or 64-bit, right click on the windows icon at the very bottom of your screen to the left. And a list will pop up.

Click on system and you will see your system information. Beside system type you will find out whether you have a 64-bit operating system or a 32-bit.

Choose which media to use, usb flash drive of course. If your flash drive is not already in the usb port go ahead and put it in.

Select the flash drive you want to use and click next.

Now we wait for the download to finish.

When your usb flash drive is ready. You should see the screen below.

Your OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) license is linked to your computer. So, all you have to do is connect to the internet to activate Windows. Keep in mind, the version of Windows you use to boot with should also be the version that came with your computer.
